Year of Mercy Reflection ‘Faith in Action’
“What good is it. my brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith, but do not have works? Can faith save you? If a brother or sister is naked or lacks daily food and one you says to them, ‘Go in peace, keep warm and eat your fill’, and yet you do not supply their bodily needs, what is the good of that?” (Letter of St. James.)

Year of Mercy Liturgy
Sunday 14th August – Slievenamon – Stations of the Cross and Mass. Gather in O’Donnell’s Field, Killusty South 1.30 to 4.00. All welcome. “The time has come for the Church to take up the joyful call to mercy once more” – Pope Francis.

Eucharistic Adoration
Glengoole: Wednesday from 10.00 to 8.00. Thursday
Gortnahoe from 10.00 to 7.00.
Come to spend an hour in adoration.

Cemetery Masses
Boulick Cemetery, Friday 12th August at 7.00.
Ballynonty Memorial Garden on Thursday 18th August at 7.00.
Ballinalacken Cemetery Friday 19th August at 7.00

Tidy Towns Walk
Ballysloe Tidy Towns will hold an 8k (5 miles) Walk, run or cycle on Thursday 25th August at 7pm in aid of Motor Neuron Disease and Ballysloe Tidy Towns. All participants must wear high visibility clothing . Regisatration in Hogan’s Bar from 6.00 to 6.45. €10.00 per entrant. Family discount and accompanied children under 12 are free. Olympic Games Prayer
Lord God, we thank you for continuing health of mind and body. We thank you also for good sporting competition and for success and failure when they come the way of the competitors. Help all those involved to compete to the fullness of their abilities, but not to make winning at all costs the pinnacle of their ambition. May all who achieve success accept it with gratitude. Comfort us with the realisation that it is often on the anvil of failure that true character is moulded and shaped. Amen.
