Thanks
Sincerest thanks to all for their wonderful support for the Buster Draw for the new FAS van. The main prize was won by Charlotte Benn, Urard. The other prizes were won by Teresa McMonagle, Andrew Pearson, Catherine Campion, Celia Webster Teresa Bartley and Billy Bourke, Tipperary.
Church Restoration
All the recent restoration work on Gortnahoe Church has been on the inside of the Church. As well as removing the existing plaster, the many coats of new lime and sand plaster have had to be put on and allowed dry. Now the final coat is about to be put on the walls, so it is great to see this progress. This week work is beginning also on bringing the outside walls and railings to be fully repaired. All your funds are really necessary.
Mayoral Visit
On Thursday 27th September Greg Nickels, Mayor of Seattle, U.S.A., his wife and family will visit Gortnahoe. His ancestors James Ryan and Mary Carey came from Thurles to live in Gortnahoe in 1822 and members of their family were born here. A further meeting to prepare for the visit will be held in Gortnahoe Hall on Monday night 10th Sept. at 9.00. Everyone is invited.
