Clerical Changes within the Diocese
During the past week, Archbishop O'Reilly made 8 changes within the diocese following the retirement of a number of priests. One of the changes sees the promotion of Fr. Joe Walsh, Thurles as Parish Priest of Annacarty & Donohill. Fr. Joe will not be replaced in Thurles and therefore the number of priests serving Thurles Parish will now be down to two. This has implications for our local Parish Combination Group as Fr. Joe's departure may mean the taking on of extra duties/ministries by the priests of the neighbouring parishes.
Celtic Year
The festival of Lughnasa in early August marks the beginning of harvest and the transition from summer to autumn. Named after Lugh Lamhfada, the hero of the mythical Tuatha dé Dannan, it is a time of plenty and celebration. “An té nach gcuirfidh san earrach, ní bhainfidh sé san Fhómhar” – He, who does not sow in spring, will not reap in the autumn.
