Christ is Risen, Alleluis, Alleluia
This is now Christians of the Eastern Church greet one another today. It is not just a greeting, but a proclamation of the Good News of Easter, the good news that God’s life, in all it’s richness and abundance, is opened for us through his Son’s resurrection.

A very happy, peaceful and joy-filled Easter to you and yours. May the Resurrection of Christ fill us with hope this day and may his blessings descend upon us this Easter to give us strength to be Easter people at all times. Today we celebrate the Resurrection of Christ, the most jubilant moment in the life of Jesus. New creation begins here. Echoes of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s ‘Messiah’ resound throughout the world. ‘And he shall reign forever and ever’.

The suffering and death of Jesus makes sense this day, for ‘Jesus had to die so that the power of sin could be conquered’. Jesus overcame the power of death, and the new and everlasting covenant has paved the way for our salvation. Jesus is truly our Saviour and Redeemer.

Easter Message from Fr Walton, PP
This year (2024) marks my first opportunity to celebrate the various Easter ceremonies with you here in the parish of Gortnahoe and Glengoole. It has been a time of observation and learning of how the various ceremonies are celebrated differently from my previous parish.

Sincerest thanks not only to all who have guided and helped me but also to all those who helped in so many ways during the Holy Week ceremonies in both Churches. Many and sincere thanks not only to all who attended the ceremonies but also to all who participated in the ceremonies. A warm welcome to all who have returned home to the parish to be with family for Easter especially those who have come from abroad as well as a warm welcome to all who are visiting.

Gavin Glynn Foundation fundraiser
Thank You to all who supported the Gavin Glynn Foundation fundraiser in Gortnahoe last Sunday in support of Tuiren Phelan and family. €8,273 was raised and along with the donation of €2,000 from the Ballyboys, €10,273 was transferred to the charity. This money will support other families that have children going abroad for treatment.

St Stephen’s Day Vehicle Run
The Ballyboys would like to thank everyone who supported the St Stephen’s Day Vehicle Run in Ballysloe, which was a tremendous success again. Monies donated as follows: Autism Assistance Dogs €500.00. Ballysloe Tidy Towns €500.00. Tipperary Special Olympics €1,000.00. St Vincent De Paul €500.00.
Gavin Glynn Foundation €2,000.00. Suir Haven Thurles €3.500.00.

Easter Day of the Lord’s Resurrection
A day of hope, of flowers and candles,
new colour and new light.
A day of smiles and friendship,
new joy and new companionship in Christ.
A day of hope for those who suffer and are sad.
A day which promises the victory of
God’s love over sin and death.
